Benchwork
After the encouragement and suggestions of members from TrainBoard.com, I have decided to forge ahead and build my own benchwork as opposed to buying pre-fabricated benchwork.
Overview
The Main Level will be constructed first. The main level will be where the majority of the action will take place for the Canton Division. The entire main level (top level) is the city of Canton. Located here will be a steel mill complex, grain elevators, flour mill, intermodal facility, and downtown. Track for the Canton Division is split between Kato Unitrack and Atlas Code 80 Snap Track. The Kato track is used mainly for the mainlines and hidden areas due to it's bullet proof reliability. The Atlas track will be used for industrial sidings and yards. The layout plans show Atlas manual turnouts with the huge levers. I will be use the discreet manual turnouts from Atlas for it's better looks.
Backdrops
Backdrops will only exist on
the wall sides of the layout. This will be the steel mill complex side and
the intermodal yard and Canton Yard.
